Edit Functions not working after up-date
|
After I downloaded the updates for 2007 I cannot perform edits that require the right click mouse functions such as revising text or adding points to lines or polygon layers. These functions worked before the updates. I have removed the program and reinstalled it (Then downloaded updates again) with same result. I need some help. is there a fix for this problem? Im using XP pro. I also cant get back to the capibility that I had with the program before the updates.

What is the "Lock Features" button suposed to do?
|
I have searched the HELP directory every which way and I can not find an explanation for the "lock Features" button in the edit tool bar. Any one know what this is supposed to do? Is there an unlock procedure? [?]

Editing polylines

I had the same problem, I think. I was able to right click for the pull down menu, which allows add and/or delete a point, only by puting the curser over the line, while in edit mode, and then holding down the "shift" key at the same time you right click. Give it a try.

Tool Bar Locations
|
I like to work with as much map as possable so I move (drag) all the bottom and right side tool bars to the top two rows, because I have a wide screen. However, "saving" my project never saves my tool bar locations. Is there some way to do that? [?]

Does anyone know how to "Add data" from a GPS map file, or if it can even be done? I have a Garman hand held GPS unit and it would be great if I could add my "way point" data to my Accuglobe projects. Even if it was just the lon & lat locations.

Thanks Chris,
I was able to "export" the File From "Map Source" (Garman program), as a txt file, then add it to a new (blank) accuglobe project. However, there is no visable data? I went to "full extent" to view, no data.
I dont see that txt data type files are supported?
What did I miss?

OK, with some trial and error I was able to cconvert the txt file to excel and edit out all the actual text, and then save it again as txt file. I did the "import x y", and it added to the project as an shp data set. It shows only as a single point. Also the dialog box for the "processing" step is truncated on the bottom so im not sure it is doing all it should?
In any event, Im not sure what units the data should be in? and is it possable to process multipal x-y sets at the same time? ie "lines" or "polys"?
Thanks again

PS My txt file looks like this: (This is befor conversion to shp)
X Pos, Y Pos,
N42 36.067, W83 53.594 N42 36.062, W83 53.596 N42 36.058, W83 53.596 N42 36.056, W83 53.590 N42 36.058, W83 53.587 N42 36.061, W83 53.584 N42 36.065, W83 53.582
Should that work?

OK, I made up a data set (.txt) that looks like this:
X Pos, Y Pos,
N42.35067, W82.53594 N42.36062, W83.53596 N42.37058, W84.53596 N42.38056, W85.53590
My Garman has this format option.
Still can not get it to work. Just get one point, (Dot on the screen).
Looking at the help instructions in the program, I see that the dialog box does not look like it does in actual practice. Any problems with the program software? I have all the updates installed. Still need help.

Chris,
42.35067, -82.53594 42.36062, -83.53596 42.37058, -84.53596 42.38056, -85.53590
Same result, and still having problems with the Import button being truncated from the btm of the XY data processing dialog box.

This is really frustrating.
I added the headers, but because the "Import XY" processing box is truncated at the bottom, (no "import" button, the only way I can turn a txt file into a shp file is to "add" the text file and then "export" it and save copy to the project. Should I try re-installing the program? New down load?

I have 7 & 1/2 lines. Bottom of the box cuts through the "smart" something line.
"Move"?

I can move the dialog box with either method, but it moves the entire box w/o changing the no of lines in the box. I also have tried clicking in the box and then scrowing up or using the up arrow and that does not work either.

Thanks Data,
I got the software program downloaded ok, and can download the waypoint data from the handheld Garmin to the new software program. However, I seem to be missing something when I save the file as a .shp and then add it to Accuglobe. Just get a few points; not even sure they are good ones.
Do you have to do any editing first, and how did you get the new layer to be a line instead of a point type?
What did you "save as"? There are many options.

Thanks Chris,
My setup was for 120 DPI. Seting it to 96 DPI I was able to get the four points (verticle orentation). But why do I not get an option to make the "geometry type", Line, or poly?
