When I am using relates I get an error message "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object filename..." where filename will be a .dbf file.
If I change the "filename" to a name using the 8.3 DOS format it works fine (even if the folder names in the path to "filename" does not follow the 8.3 format).
Is it supposed to work like that - or can this be fixed?
(Ive got the latest verison of the "The Microsoft Jet database engine").
Regards
Morten

Hi Morten,
Is it just a plain .dbf file, or are you trying to open something like a FoxPro database. I seem to remember something like this sometime back and it being related to a bug in one of the Microsoft drivers. Let me know more details and Ill see what I can dig up.

Hi Chris
It is a plain .dbf file.
I am trying to combine data from two shapefiles by a mutual id column.

It is a Microsoft bug, I do remember running into it before. Here is a link to their KB article on it:

Sorry I cant be of much more help, but I think youll have to go the 8.3 filename approach.
