When I try to add a layer with GeoTiff files referenced in Lat/Longs I found the following to happen. The files display fine in Lat/Longs, but as I use the On-the-Fly functionality (Layer projection Lat/Long) into an UTM project the files are no longer visible/displayed. Checking the bounding box in properties it seems to contain the correct values, also the full extent button seems to work with this bounding box, the graphcs would redisplay and change the size but no Tiff image is displayed . Could you please check this, I also can supply you with the project/Geotiffs, thanks,
Lucky

Are you trying to reproject the GeoTIFF layer or are you reprojection vector layers so they align with the GeoTIFF. I am pretty sure on the fly reprojection of GeoTIFFs is not supported, so I am surprised it is even an option.

Yes I tried to reproject the GeoTIFF layer because the software allows me to select this option in the Layer properties, I tick enable and select lat/long for the GeoTIFF in this layers projection. So would suggest to issue a warning to the user if this option is not possible, please try it out yourself. If this is not possible, would you know about software that allows registering GeoTIFFs in UTM or similar, thanks,
Lucky
