Accuglobe 2007 performance is bad/slow. Slow responsiveness, even to simple actions like resizing the applications window. Sample data provided on your site wont install (wont recognize Accuglobe 2007 installation in D:\Program Files\DDTI under WinVista). Please make your program compatible with Vista.

AccuGlobe 2007 has not been tested on Windows Vista. We are expecting to be able to get the RTM (Release To Manufacturing) version any day now.
It was unclear on the website that the sample data was for AccuGlobe 2004 only. Sample data should be available for AccuGlobe 2007 later today.

im just curious as to how much of an issue the speed is for other people.
if Mnkb and myself are the only ones dealing with it, which i doubt, what could we do to help it along
it really does take forever to simply pan over, zoom, or even select 3 points. Id love to spread this new AccuGlobe around, as it has improved a lot in many ways, but id almost rather put up with some of my old issues rather than wait on it.

Hi JBrown,
I would be interested to know what your machine spec is and what data layer(s) you are using.
Please be aware that due to the differences in 2004 and 2007 map engines work you may need to tweak your layer properties.
May i ask if your project makes heavy use of MrSid files?
I have not yet had the opportunity to test under Vista.

The MrSid implementation is slower than that of AccuGlobe 2004 - depending on the file it could be significantly slower. It appears that the latest SDK from Lizardtech isnt as fast as previous versions.
However, you will notice if you use ECWs or JPEG2000 files these are significantly faster. ECW offers a free compresser for files <=500mb.
I suggest that you use the scale dependency option on the MrSid layers to restrict when these are displayed. Alternatively group these MrSid and switch these on only when you need the orthos.

Thanks Dave
I have been leaving the aerials off until i needed them
but i did notice that when i built my project, i used the aerial files that were on the network instead of the ones on my hard drive. Obviously when i realized that, i switched and am now using the files that are located on my C: drive, so that helped significantly.

We have a 1gb network here and so I didnt notice a significant difference so yes - depending on how busy the network is - having the files locally will help.
