Mike,

You can only import as points because that is all the file contains. AccuGlobe cannot convert to lines as it would have no idea what point was the start of a line and which point was the end of a line (assuming the points in the file made up more than one line). The same is true of polygons. If you want to make lines or polygons you will need to create a new shapefile layer of those geometry types and digitize in the features using the GPS point layer for reference.

Chris

Ok Mike. I think we have it figured out. We are able to recreate the issue by setting our display adapter DPI to something other than the normal 96 DPI.

To check this right click on your desktop and select Properties. Click on the Settings tab and then click on Advanced. From this point on what you see will depend on your graphics card. However, you will probably see a General tab and on this tab, under Display, will be your DPI setting. If this is not 96 try changing it to 96 and then restard AccuGlobe 2007

Hope this helps,
Chris

This is really frustrating.

I added the headers, but because the "Import XY" processing box is truncated at the bottom, (no "import" button, the only way I can turn a txt file into a shp file is to "add" the text file and then "export" it and save copy to the project. Should I try re-installing the program? New down load?

Mike

OK, with some trial and error I was able to cconvert the txt file to excel and edit out all the actual text, and then save it again as txt file. I did the "import x y", and it added to the project as an shp data set. It shows only as a single point. Also the dialog box for the "processing" step is truncated on the bottom so im not sure it is doing all it should?

In any event, Im not sure what units the data should be in? and is it possable to process multipal x-y sets at the same time? ie "lines" or "polys"?

Thanks again

Mike
